These ex-PhD students often invite me to their institutions, as I was recently invited to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. To get the visa, I went to the Roman embassy at 9 am where I took the number for the counter to be opened only at 11 am. When the time arrived the electronic board for calling our number was out of work, but we (applicants) managed to follow a queue according to our own numbers. Moreover, the lady at the counter forced us to remain in a different room since she did not want a queue in front of her. Eventually, once she served the applicant number C750, I showed up with my C751 number, complaining about my difficulties. Without even asking my queue number, she ordered me to go in the other room. I did not oblige since it was my turn. She refused to help me and went away from the counter. I waited her to calm down. When she came back she looked only the first two pages of my application and said that I did not bring the declaration of the Italian company. No visa for an old retired professor with a regular invitation from his students. To my understanding this lady was Italian.....but she was just damaging India.
