Personal profile of Lorenzo De Tomasi

Communication designer with a degree at Design Faculty of Politecnico di Milano. Has freelancer he has worked with a lot of companies in Northern and Central Italy. He’s the founder and coordinator of Isotype (an international network of communication professionals), founder and member of Free hardware foundation and active member of DigitalFrontiers, a free network of persons and associations asking for a free culture. Together with the lawyer Antonio Amelia, has started the Creative Commons Italy project. He’s a free culture activist and publishes his works under Creative Commons and Gnu-Gpl licenses. Founder and collaborator of Liberius, a law firm specialized in copyleft, together with Ermanno Pandoli, has created the Diffusion authorization to increment the diffusion of indipendent works allowing the reproduction in commercial activities. He has teached at Iuav University in Venice, at Superior Institute of Design in Naples, at Omero writing school, European Design Institute in Rome (Ied) and La Sapienza University of Rome.

A widget for Ieml semantic navigation

An article by Candide Kemmler explores the new possibilities of semantic navigation that will be fed by the IEML dictionary.

The software widget presented in this paper is a first attempt at providing end-users with a means to navigate an IEML space both for content annotation (USL notation) and for content navigation through their semantics. It was first presented at IEML’s international seminar in Ottawa on May 2d, 2009.
